She Gave All She Had

Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, ² and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. ³ And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. ⁴ For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

-Luke 21:1-4 (ESV)

Beloved, I want you to come with me and take a different look at this parable. Most of us, when we read this passage, immediately draw to the fact that this widow was poor, but what if she wasn’t? Hear me out…. Have you ever heard it said, “as a man thinks, so he is”? What if this woman did not see herself as poor or even a widow? What if she did not see all her limitations in society the way others did? What if she did not value herself by what she had accomplished or gained in life’s journey? What if the only thing she could see was Christ? What if her eyes were so fixed on Jesus that it did not allow room for her to see anything else around her? What if she meditated on the Word of God to the point, they were no longer just stories, but life breathing experiences for her? What if God wasn’t just a God to her but everything that He says He is in His Word? What if Jehovah Jireh wasn’t just a name she called out when she was in a tight space but a name she came to love and depend on all her days? What if she already was blessed and living abundantly?

In a place (state of being) that many of us would despise or consider ourselves under the curse of God, this widow didn’t. In a place where society would point out everything we are doing wrong. A place where value is placed on what we have and obtain throughout our lives rather than the blesser. In a place that the enemy will use every tool, scheme and lie to shake up your identity in Christ. This widow trusted, she committed and she gave all she had. She was aware of the cost, but she gave it all. The Rich gave out of their abundance but this women in her little showed even this Lord you can have. What if she understood that all that she had, came from the Lord and so it all goes back to Him? What if this woman wasn’t poor or just a widow, but knew she was the daughter of the Most High and in Him she lacked NOTHING!

Brothers and Sisters, God has given us all of Him, everything that He has is ours. This widow though not spoken out loud said the same thing, “Lord, all that I have is yours”. Are you willing to trust God with everything and everyone you have, your loved ones, your finances, your home or career? Maybe some of us need to trust Him with what is going on in the world today, trusting that He is still in control, no matter what. Are you willing to give Him all of you today? You are loved.

Ella Dio Todo Lo Que Tenía

Levantando Jesús la vista, vio a los ricos que echaban sus ofrendas en el arca del tesoro. ² Y vio también a una viuda pobre que echaba allí dos pequeñas monedas de cobre; ³ y dijo: En verdad os digo, que esta viuda tan pobre echó más que todos ellos; ⁴ porque todos ellos echaron en la ofrenda de lo que les sobraba, pero ella, de su pobreza, echó todo lo que tenía para vivir.

Amados, quiero que me acompañen a ver esta parábola desde otra perspectiva. La mayoría de nosotros, al leer este pasaje, nos damos cuenta de inmediato de que esta viuda era pobre, pero ¿y si no lo era? Escúchenme… ¿Han oído alguna vez que «como un hombre piensa, así es»? ¿Y si esta mujer no se consideraba pobre, ni siquiera viuda? ¿Y si no veía todas sus limitaciones en la sociedad como los demás? ¿Y si no se valoraba por lo que había logrado o ganado en su vida? ¿Y si lo único que veía era a Cristo? ¿Y si sus ojos estaban tan fijos en Jesús que no le dejaban ver nada más a su alrededor? ¿Y si meditaba en la Palabra de Dios hasta el punto de que ya no eran solo historias, sino experiencias que le daban vida? ¿Y si Dios no era solo un Dios para ella, sino todo lo que Él dice que es en Su Palabra? ¿Y si Jehová Jireh no fuera solo un nombre que pronunciaba en momentos difíciles, sino un nombre que llegó a amar y del que dependía toda su vida? ¿Y si ya era bendecida y vivía en abundancia?

En un lugar (estado de ser) que muchos de nosotros despreciaríamos o nos consideraríamos bajo la maldición de Dios, esta viuda no lo hizo. En un lugar donde la sociedad señalaría todo lo que estamos haciendo mal. Un lugar donde se valora lo que tenemos y obtenemos a lo largo de nuestras vidas en lugar de lo que bendice. En un lugar donde el enemigo usará cada herramienta, esquema y mentira para sacudir tu identidad en Cristo. Esta viuda confió, se comprometió y dio todo lo que tenía. Era consciente del costo, pero lo dio todo. Los ricos dieron de su abundancia, pero esta mujer en su poco mostró incluso a este Señor que puedes tener. ¿Qué pasaría si ella entendiera que todo lo que tenía venía del Señor y, por lo tanto, todo regresa a Él? ¿Qué pasaría si esta mujer no fuera pobre o solo una viuda, sino que supiera que era la hija del Altísimo y que en Él no le faltaba NADA?

Hermanos y Hermana’s, Dios nos ha dado todo de Él; todo lo que tiene es nuestro. Esta viuda, aunque no lo dijo en voz alta, dijo lo mismo: «Señor, todo lo que tengo es tuyo». ¿Estás dispuesto a confiarle a Dios todo y a todos tus seres queridos, tus finanzas, tu hogar o tu carrera? Quizás algunos de nosotros necesitemos confiarle lo que sucede en el mundo hoy, confiando en que Él sigue en control, pase lo que pase. ¿Estás dispuesto a entregarle todo de ti hoy? Eres amado.
