He Is In The Room

Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day,    for darkness is as light to you.

-Psalms 139:7-12 (NIV)

Most of us are aware that the Word refers to God as omnipresent. He in His fullness including His Word (Jesus) and His Spirit (The Holy Spirit) are fully present, at all times, to all believers. When we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, the 3 being one came to make Their home with us (John 14:23 AMPC).

Omnipresence= is the attribute of God by which He is present everywhere at all times, fully transcending space and time while being intimately involved in creation.

But what happens when we do not feel the presence of the Almighty or we do not see the moving of the Holy Spirit? What about when our circumstances reflect more of a lack of His presence than Him showing up for us? What happened during a worship service where we praised Him with our whole hearts, but the atmosphere felt the same as when we walked in the place? Maybe you have experienced moments when you have been in your room, pouring out your heart to God yet it feels as though it is just you and the four walls? What happens when you are down to your last dime, you ask God to come through as your provider, yet you remain in the red? What happens when you are holding the hand of a loved one in the hospital and you cry out to God to heal them, and they slip away?

A lot of these scenarios hit close to home. A lot of us can remember those moments clearly and some of us are walking through them right now. A lot of us become or have become dismayed, discouraged and defeated. We feel as though God has abandoned us, or we and our circumstance are not important enough to Him. We feel as though He has looked away from us and that His mighty hand is no longer upon us. I mentioned in another devotional how we as the body of God at times have gotten so caught up in the Manifestation of God and the fire of the Holy Spirit that when we do not see those things we dismiss the presence of God.

Beloved, He is in the room! As you were going through that rough time, He was fighting the darkness on your behalf. When you were worshiping, His eyes were fixed on you listening to every word. When you poured your heart out to Him with tears running down your face, He took every one of them, read them and placed them in a bottle. When you were going through financial struggle, He was placing your needs in the hearts of others to supply. When you were holding the hand of your loved one, He was holding you. Sometimes in life God does not come through in the way we want Him to or would like but it doesn’t mean His presence is not there. God’s presence doesn’t mean the absence of heartache or difficulty, but it does mean that in those times we can have peace and joy amid them. We can have peace knowing that if God is present then what we are going through is temporary. God is there no matter what, whether we need Him at the moment or not, He is always there. God will never leave you or abandon you. He loves you too much to let you go or out of His sight.

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple

and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?

-1 Corinthians 3:16 (NIV)

Brothers and Sisters, if we exalt the manifestation of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit more than God Himself than we have made idols of what He does more than who He is. Don’t dismiss Him because you do not always see Him, feel Him or sense Him. Regardless of what we feel or see, He is there. Even right now, He is beside you, listening to your thoughts, gazing into your eyes, feeling the rhythm of your heartbeat. He delights in you, hearing from you, being with you, there is no other place He would rather be than with you. He is in the room- with you! You are loved.

Eres amado.
