Prince Of Peace

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders.    And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

“Tis’ the season to be jolly” they say, but this time of year can be very hectic and lonely. There is a lot of running around to do, trying to find the perfect gift, spending more money than most of us have in the bank. Or maybe you do not have a home or a family to spend the holidays with, so you are trying to look for the next hot meal and warm place to sleep. Maybe you must work, are deployed or on call for your job and will be away from those you love this year. Whatever the case maybe, Christmas time seems to come with a lot more demands and expectations than any other month, not to mention the below zero degrees weather for many countries and states.

What if the business and worries of the holidays, weather and warm beds didn’t have to weigh so heavy on our shoulders? What if there was a way to have inner peace and joy? I know, “what if” is uncertain and hypothetical, but what if I told you that true peace and joy are achievable, that it is not just wishful thinking. I know with everything going on in the world right now, hope seems to be lost or at the least scarce to find. The thought of allowing your heart to believe and taking a step of faith can seem like another “to do” on your list of things.

But this verse reminds us that the cares, chaos, struggles, hardships that we face and go through are upon His shoulders. Emmanuel is His name, Wonderful Counselor, “Prince of Peace”, Jesus, Yeshua! One thing we know for certain about our Lord and Savior is that His names reveal who He is. He is the “Prince of Peace”. God says “²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” – John 14:27 (NIV). You see the peace that comes from the Lord is good, it protects, guides, gives understanding and where there is none His peace surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). God doesn’t want us to walk around being weighed down by the cares and things of this world (1 Peter 5:7). When we put our hope and trust in the Lord, He will not be disappointed, we will not be ashamed (1 Peter 2:6b).

Brothers and Sisters, I do not know what this Christmas season or New Years has in store for you. I cannot say if your current situation will look different in the upcoming weeks but what I can say for certain is if we believe, we can have peace and joy in the mist of uncertainty. The God of peace wants to wrap our hearts and minds with His peace as we walk through life and fill our souls with His joy while the world is happening around us. This season, remember that it is not about the right gift, fancy decorations, getting to the shelters first to secure a bed or business that this season brings but about Jesus. He knows all our wants and needs; He will be there for us and provide all that we need in those moments. His provision may not come in the form we envisioned but it will come. Tis the season and every season to truly be jolly… the King is here, His Word is alive, His Spirit is truth, He is the Prince of Peace! You are loved.

Príncipe De La Paz

Pues nos ha nacido un niño, un hijo se nos ha dado;el gobierno descansará sobre sus hombros,    y será llamado:Consejero Maravilloso, Dios Poderoso,    Padre Eterno, Príncipe de Paz.

Dicen que es temporada de alegría, pero esta temporada del año puede ser muy agitada y solitaria. Hay mucho que hacer, buscando el regalo perfecto, gastando más dinero del que la mayoría tenemos en el banco. O quizás no tienes casa ni familia con quien pasar las fiestas, así que buscas la próxima comida caliente y un lugar cálido donde dormir. Quizás tengas que trabajar, estés desplegado o de guardia y estarás lejos de tus seres queridos este año. Sea como sea, la Navidad parece traer muchas más exigencias y expectativas que cualquier otro mes, sin mencionar el clima bajo cero grados en muchos países y estados.

¿Y si las preocupaciones de las fiestas, el clima y las camas calientes no tuvieran que pesar tanto sobre nuestros hombros? ¿Y si hubiera una manera de tener paz interior y alegría? Sé que el "¿y si...?" es incierto e hipotético, pero ¿y si te dijera que la verdadera paz y alegría son alcanzables, que no son solo ilusiones? Sé que con todo lo que está pasando en el mundo ahora mismo, la esperanza parece haberse perdido o, al menos, difícil de encontrar. La idea de dejarse llevar por la fe y dar un paso de fe puede parecer una tarea más en la lista de cosas por hacer.

Pero este versículo nos recuerda que las preocupaciones, el caos, las luchas y las dificultades que enfrentamos y atravesamos están sobre Sus hombros. Emmanuel es Su nombre, Admirable Consejero, “Príncipe de Paz”, ¡Jesús, Yeshua! Una cosa que sabemos con certeza sobre nuestro Señor y Salvador es que Sus nombres revelan quién es Él. Él es el “Príncipe de Paz”. Dios dice: “27 La paz les dejo, mi paz les doy. Yo no se la doy a ustedes como la de el mundo.  No se angustien ni se acobarden” – Juan 14:27 (NVI). Verán, la paz que viene del Señor es buena, protege, guía, da entendimiento y donde no lo hay, Su paz sobrepasa todo entendimiento (Filipenses 4:7). Dios no quiere que andemos agobiados por las preocupaciones y las cosas de este mundo (1 Pedro 5:7). Cuando ponemos nuestra esperanza y confianza en el Señor, Él no será decepcionado, no seremos avergonzados (1 Pedro 2:6b).

Hermanos y Hermanas, no sé qué les depara esta Navidad o Año Nuevo. No puedo decir si su situación actual será diferente en las próximas semanas, pero lo que sí puedo decir con certeza es que, si creemos, podemos tener paz y alegría en medio de la incertidumbre. El Dios de paz quiere envolver nuestros corazones y mentes con su paz mientras caminamos por la vida y llenar nuestras almas con su alegría mientras el mundo sucede a nuestro alrededor. En esta temporada, recuerden que no se trata del regalo perfecto, las decoraciones elegantes, llegar primero a los albergues para conseguir una cama o el negocio que este temporada trae, sino de Jesús. Él conoce todos nuestros deseos y necesidades; Él estará ahí para nosotros y proveerá todo lo que necesitamos en esos momentos. Su provisión puede no venir en la forma que imaginamos, pero vendrá. Esta es la temporada y cada temporada para estar verdaderamente alegres... ¡el Rey está aquí, su Palabra es viva, su Espíritu es verdad, Él es el Príncipe de Paz! Eres amado.
