Go Deeper (Part 2)

Welcome back Brothers and Sisters! I hope you are blessed in His presence.

Last month I shared with you of how God was calling me deeper with Him. How He wanted to show me another side to Him. That going deeper with God in this season was not about doing more but doing less. I know that almost sounds the opposite of going deeper. But what if I told you one of the most important things you will ever do in your Christian walk is to acknowledge the presence of God. Seeking His face and not His hand. Being aware of the Holy Spirit in a way that far outshines the manifestation of the gifts.

As a believer we can get very comfortable with the acts of God: His voice, His comfort, His leading, His instructions but dismiss Him when we don’t see Him at work on our behalf.  The Holy Spirit was given to us as a gift, a helper, but too often we only notice Him when the gifts and fire flow. God was not rebuking my efforts or steps of faith to go deeper; He was calling me nearer to Him. To remember His presence, in the times it is tangible and, in the times, it feels distant and silent – He is there.

Not too long before I shared last month’s Devo with you, I felt the Holy Spirit telling me: “forget what you knew and did before”. As I mentioned I didn’t know what this would look like or feel like and as I go through it, I am still learning. As the strings on a guitar, God is retuning my ears to His Spirit. I am learning and unlearning things. Somethings that I have learned are correct but wrongly placed in my life. God is doing inventory, being the vine dresser as He said He would. In this season He has harped more on the importance of being still and silent before Him. Carving out time throughout my day to just sit in His presence in silence. To take a scripture and meditate for a week or two on it, to sit with it in my alone time with Him. Going deeper is more about listening than speaking, more about being watchful for His moving rather than the results I want. Getting back to the basics of the foundation of our faith.

Be still, and know that I am God.

Brothers and Sisters, if God is drawing you nearer, go to Him. If you feel the call, answer with “Here I am Lord, your servant is listening”. Life can get very busy, church can become very routine, and our lives can seem very mundane, but I can assure you there will be nothing mundane about going deeper with God. We will go through many season as we walk with God where He wants to fine tune our ears and spirit to His (I have passed through this a few times in my walk). But as He guides you to the next level, remember that your efforts have been noticed, you are seen, God is pleased. He is saying: “let’s go deeper”. If that is you today tell Him – YES! Go to your Pray Closet, sit in silence, be fully present in His presence, and as He speaks – worship Him. Meditate on His word and pray it out over your life; and watch as you begin to sense His presence fill the room… that He already occupied. You are loved.

Ir Más Profundo (Parte 2)

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo, Hermanos y Hermanas! Espero que sean bendecidos en Su presencia.

El mes pasado compartí con ustedes cómo Dios me estaba llamando a profundizar mi relación con Él; cómo quería mostrarme otra faceta de Su ser. Comprendí que profundizar con Dios en esta etapa no se trataba de hacer más, sino de hacer menos. Sé que esto puede parecer lo opuesto a profundizar. Pero, ¿qué pasaría si les dijera que una de las cosas más importantes que jamás harán en su caminar cristiano es reconocer la presencia de Dios? Buscar Su rostro y no Su mano. Ser conscientes del Espíritu Santo de una manera que eclipse por completo la manifestación de los dones.

Como creyentes, podemos acostumbrarnos demasiado a las obras de Dios —Su voz, Su consuelo, Su guía, Sus instrucciones—, pero dejarlo de lado cuando no lo vemos obrar a nuestro favor. El Espíritu Santo nos fue dado como un regalo y un ayudador, pero con demasiada frecuencia solo reparamos en Él cuando fluyen los dones y el fuego. Dios no estaba reprendiendo mis esfuerzos ni mis pasos de fe para profundizar; me estaba llamando a acercarme más a Él. Se trata de recordar su presencia tanto en los momentos en que es tangible como en aquellos en que se siente distante y silenciosa: Él está ahí.

Poco antes de compartir con ustedes la reflexión del mes pasado, sentí que el Espíritu Santo me decía: «olvida lo que sabías y hacías antes». Como ya mencioné, no sabía qué forma tendría esto ni qué se sentiría, y sigo aprendiendo a medida que avanzo en el proceso. Al igual que las cuerdas de una guitarra, Dios está afinando nuevamente mis oídos a Su Espíritu. Estoy aprendiendo cosas nuevas y desaprendiendo otras. Hay aspectos que he aprendido que son correctos, pero que ocupaban un lugar equivocado en mi vida. Dios está haciendo inventario, actuando como el viñador tal como prometió hacerlo. En esta etapa, Él ha hecho mucho hincapié en la importancia de estar quieto y en silencio ante Su presencia; de apartar tiempo a lo largo del día simplemente para sentarme en silencio ante Él. Se trata de tomar un pasaje de las Escrituras y meditar en él durante una o dos semanas, de reflexionar sobre él en mis momentos a solas con Él. Profundizar implica más escuchar que hablar, y estar más atento a Su mover que a los resultados que yo deseo. Es volver a lo esencial, a los fundamentos de nuestra fe.

Quédense quietos, reconozcan que yo soy Dios.

Hermanos y Hermanas, si Dios los está atrayendo más cerca de Él, acudan a Su encuentro. Si sienten el llamado, respondan: «Aquí estoy, Señor; tu siervo escucha». La vida puede volverse muy ajetreada, la iglesia puede caer en la rutina y nuestra existencia parecer muy ordinaria; sin embargo, les aseguro que no hay nada ordinario en profundizar nuestra relación con Dios. Al caminar con Él, atravesaremos muchas etapas en las que Dios querrá afinar nuestros oídos y nuestro espíritu para que se sintonicen con los Suyos (yo misma he pasado por esto varias veces en mi caminar). Pero, a medida que Él los guía hacia el siguiente nivel, recuerden que sus esfuerzos han sido notados, que son vistos y que Dios se complace en ustedes. Él les dice: «Vamos más profundo». Si esto resuena contigo hoy, dile: «¡Sí!». Ve a tu lugar de oración, permanece en silencio, entrégate plenamente a Su presencia y, mientras Él habla, adóralo. Medita en Su Palabra y ora declarándola sobre tu vida; y observa cómo empiezas a sentir Su presencia llenando la habitación... una habitación que Él ya ocupaba. Eres amado.
