Go Deeper (Part 1)

A few years ago, I felt the Lord prompting me to go deeper with Him. That word was confirmed by 2 different people in the body of Christ, 2 years apart from each other. At first when I heard it from them (inwardly not outwardly) I was kind of offended and discouraged. However, I just nodded my head and said amen… have any of you ever done that with a prophetic word you received that just didn’t sit right with you at the moment (raise your hand) outwardly you excepted it but inwardly you were like “huh”. I mean I had already started to set more time apart to spend with the Lord. I was reading and studying more, praying more, not to mention I was still very active in church. So, when I heard this from them after I had already implemented these additions, it made me feel unseen as if my efforts were not enough for God. I thought to myself “Go Deeper” … What does this mean; what does this look like?

A few days of reasoning and wrestling with this in my spirit, God reminded me of a guitar. Something I am familiar with as my dad played his guitar all the time in church when I was a little girl. I saw my dad strum the strings a few times before he played his guitar to check if it needed to be tuned. If it needed to be he would just turn a few of the pegs at the neck of the guitar, strum a few more times till it sounded just right. The strings on a guitar will have to be replaced several times in a lifetime. Some of the reasons strings need to be replaced are due to them stretching out, rusting or breaking causing the guitar to be unusable. There is nothing wrong with the body of the guitar, in fact a guitar without strings loses no value, it is still worth a lot.

Oh, the kindness of God… once again He met me at my well. I now was able to see and receive what He was saying to me. It wasn’t that God had not seen my efforts or heart towards Him, but the deeper He was referring to was going to look different this time around than it had in the past. Going Deeper with God wasn’t about doing more but doing less. God was calling me back to the basics of every believer's foundation.

Brothers and Sisters, I began to realize that when God asked me to go deeper it wasn’t because He was displeased at my life or worship toward Him but because I had outgrown that level. It was time to move forward and up. The word says He brings us from glory to glory. He wanted to reveal another side of who He is and manifest Himself in me in this special way, maybe you are at this place right now in your walk with the Lord too. Do you sense the Lord calling you deeper? In part 2 I will share with you what this meant and looks like for me. You are loved.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

– 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)

– 2 Corintios 3:18 (RVR 1960)
