Turn Around

Let the wicked forsake their ways    and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Have you ever found yourself down a path that you are not sure how you got on in the first place? I have (raising my hand), I have literally had to stop and think: “how did I get here”. Unfortunately, a lot of those wrong turns, misguided paths, or foolish decisions we have made, have brought us away from God. Some of our straying away was not intentional but the fact of the matter is we did. Even if the places we end up are familiar because of the lifestyle we lived before Christ transformed our lives, those places no longer hold a space of comfort for us. We no longer recognize them as places where we want to be, but as a reminder of the place from which God rescued us.

Beloved, I have to say, I am so thankful that we do not have to choose from a pool of gods. There are many who created gods and even those who believe themselves to be god, but there is only one true God. In life there are only 2 defaults, “Darkness” or “Light”. No one chooses for you; only you get to make that decision for yourself. You get to decide whom you will serve, what path you will take. The key…. Repentance! Repentance is to turn from your sin; from the path you are headed down.

Repentance- the action of repenting; sincere regret or remorse:

"Each person who turns to God in genuine repentance and faith will be saved"

 “Truth” or “Lies”, “Obedience” or “Rebellion”, “Love” or “Evil” and so forth. As Children of God, we will face these decisions daily. We will constantly have to judge things and those in our lives, weighing the spirit behind them. If we are walking in darkness- lies, deceit, rebellion and evil, we are doing the opposite of what God has created and called us for. I know sometimes it is easier to walk away when you have slipped so far or feel the sin was too great, but God simply says: “Turn Around”. Countless times in The Word of God, we see the Lord saying to His people: “Repent, turn from your ways and I will forgive you”. The act of repentance is so simple yet many of us at times, including myself, find it hard to do. Repenting is not just an apology, it is an actual act of faith, a change in direction, a lifestyle change.

Brothers and Sisters, I want to encourage you today. God is not trying to condemn us, He wants to guide us, instruct us and teach us, His ways. If we stop, watch and listen, God is speaking to us: “Turn Around, you are going the wrong way”. He wants you close to His heart. So, if you feel that maybe you are going down a wrong path or have slipped way, it is not too late, just Turn Around. You are loved.

Dar La Vuelta

Que abandone el malvado su camino y el perverso sus pensamientos.Que se vuelva al Señor, a nuestro Dios, 

que es generoso para perdonar  y de él recibirá compasión.

¿Alguna vez te has encontrado en un camino sin saber cómo llegaste allí? A mí sí (levanto la mano). Literalmente he tenido que detenerme a pensar: "¿Cómo llegué hasta aquí?". Desafortunadamente, muchos de esos desvíos, caminos equivocados o decisiones imprudentes que hemos tomado nos han alejado de Dios. Algunas de estas desviaciones no fueron intencionales, pero la realidad es que ocurrieron. Incluso si los lugares al que llegamos nos resulta familiar por el estilo de vida que llevábamos antes de que Cristo transformara nuestras vidas, estos lugares ya no nos ofrece consuelo. Ya no lo reconocemos como esos lugares donde queremos estar, sino como un recordatorio del lugar del que Dios nos apartó.

Amados, debo decir que estoy muy agradecido de que no tengamos que elegir entre una multitud de dioses. Hay muchos que han creado dioses e incluso algunos que se creen dioses, pero solo hay un Dios verdadero. En la vida solo hay dos opciones: "Oscuridad" o "Luz". Nadie elige por ti; Solo tú puedes tomar esa decisión. Tú decides a quién servirás, qué camino tomarás. La clave… ¡El arrepentimiento! Arrepentirse es apartarse del pecado; del camino que se está siguiendo.

Arrepentimiento: el acto de arrepentirse; pesar o remordimiento sincero:

«Toda persona que se vuelva a Dios con arrepentimiento y fe sinceros será salva».

“Verdad” o “Mentiras”, “Obediencia” o “Rebelión”, “Amor” o “Maldad”, y así sucesivamente. Como hijos de Dios, nos enfrentaremos a estas decisiones a diario. Constantemente tendremos que discernir las cosas y a quienes nos rodean, sopesando la intención que las motiva. Si caminamos en tinieblas —mentiras, engaños, rebelión y maldad—, estamos haciendo lo contrario de lo que Dios creó y nos pidió. Sé que a veces es más fácil alejarse cuando uno se ha desviado demasiado o siente que el pecado fue demasiado grande, pero Dios simplemente dice: “Dar La Vuelta”. Innumerables veces en la Palabra de Dios, vemos al Señor diciéndole a su pueblo: “Arrepiéntanse, conviértanse de sus malos caminos y yo los perdonaré”. El acto de arrepentimiento es tan sencillo, sin embargo, a muchos de nosotros, incluyéndome a mí, nos resulta difícil a veces. Arrepentirse no es solo pedir disculpas, es un verdadero acto de fe, un cambio de rumbo, un cambio de estilo de vida.

Hermanos y Hermanas, hoy quiero animarlos. Dios no intenta condenarnos, sino guiarnos, instruirnos y enseñarnos sus caminos. Si nos detenemos, observamos y escuchamos, Dios nos dice: «Da la Vuelta, vas por mal camino»,. Quiere que estés cerca de su corazón. Así que, si sientes que tal vez estás tomando un camino equivocado o te has desviado, no es demasiado tarde, solo da la vuelta. Eres amado.
