Brothers and Sisters, I just heard a word taken from 2 Timothy 1:7 that has lifted my spirit and renewed my mind!
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.- 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
God has not given us a spirit of fear! Read that again... "He has NOT given us a SPIRIT of Fear". I feel like God has given me a revelation on this verse. I have read, heard and quoted this verse many of times, but this time around, I felt like God had those words jump off the page at me. Fear is a spirit, not a feeling. Often times we treat and deal with fear as though it were an emotion but according to scripture, it is not. When you realize that it is a spirit and not an emotion, you will fight differently. Spirits need to be fought through the word of God, with prayer and sometimes even fasting. An emotion is something that is felt and often times dictated by our mood. Emotions, we can suppress them, but a spirit tries to take up residency in our lives. Fear paralyzes us. As we read scripture we realize it is one of the enemies greatest tactics. The Lord rebukes the fear of the enemy, and there are 366 verses in the Bible that say "Fear Not".
Often times we make excuses for fear, allowing it to lead our lives. We say things like I have a fear of flying, a fear of clowns, bugs. As mentioned in another blog I wrote, some of us live in FOMO (fear of missing out), we look at our lives and begin to fear, thinking to ourselves is this all that there is to my life. Will I ever have my desires or reach my goals. Brothers and sisters, it does not matter what the object of your fear is, the source behind it is a spirit, a demonic spirit, the enemy. Fear hinders progress, it doesn't allow us to see beyond what is right in front of us. The Bible say "perfect love cast out all fear (1 John 4:18)", it cast it out. God, in his perfect holiness cast out fear, He did not tell us to overcome or overpower it but cast it down to the obedience of Jesus Christ. From the begin, God has shown us how to deal with Satan, casting him down from heaven, the enemy belongs under our feet. We have authority and dominion over him and his ways. Confront fear with boldness, remind the enemy in whose authority you speak in. God is greater than any spirit of fear that comes at us, and His fight for us is to deliver us from that spirit, so that it will not prevail.
When we begin to see fruits like anxiety, confusion, doubt, timidness (shyness) discouragement and dismay, procrastination and laziness, they all stem from fear and are a means of distractions. These are not of the Holy Spirit, for the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). God wants us to rest in Him, to have peace in Him, He has already defeated the enemy, let's keep it that way. So how do we fight when we see this spirit of fear trying to attach itself to us, let's look at 2 key verses in scripture.
5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength (mind).- Deuteronomy 6:5 (NLT)
8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.- Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
How do we love God with our mind, by meditating on His word, so when the enemy throws his fiery arrows (which he will), we can recognize it because it doesn't line up with God's word. The Bible says in Jeremiah 31:33- that God has written His word on our hearts', so when we read the word, we are filling our heart's with God's truth and we know from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34 NLT). How we speak into the lives of others and how we speak to ourselves will show if those words are rooted in Faith or Fear. Fear (reverence) of the Lord (His spirit) brings Wisdom and Understanding. It aligns us with God and His word. The Bible says the spirit of the Lord brings us into all truth. The fear of God brings about conviction and obedience. Fear brings condemnation and separation. When we live (mentally, physically and spiritually) in God's truth there is no room for fear. When fear is removed, we become of sound mind and spirit. Being decisive in our ways and confident in our hope.
Brothers and sisters- Greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world (1 John 4:4 NKJV)! Let's look at fear for what it really is, fear is a spirit from the enemy trying to attach itself to your life. Don't let fear have it's way, cast it down, with boldness tell it to leave in the name of Jesus. The enemy still trembles at that name today. Love God with all of yourself, let Him love you with all of Himself, immerse yourself in the Word and enlarge your territory! You are so loved.
"ESPÍRITU" de Miedo
Hermanos y hermanas, acabo de escuchar una palabra tomada de 2 Timoteo 1:7 que ha levantado mi espíritu y renovado mi mente!
7 Pues Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor y timidez sino de poder, amor y autodisciplina.- 2 Timoteo 1:7 (NTV)
¡Dios no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor! Lee eso de nuevo... "Él NO nos ha dado ESPÍRITU de Temor". Siento que Dios me ha dado una revelación sobre este versículo. He leído, escuchado y citado este versículo muchas veces, pero esta vez sentí que Dios hizo que esas palabras saltaran de la página hacia mí. El Temor es un espíritu, no un sentimiento. Muchas veces tratamos y lidiamos con el temor como si fuera una emoción, pero según las Escrituras, no lo es. Cuando te des cuenta de que es un espíritu y no una emoción, lucharás de otra manera. Es necesario combatir los espíritus a través de la palabra de Dios, con la oración y a veces incluso con el ayuno. Una emoción es algo que se siente y muchas veces está dictado por nuestro estado de ánimo. Las emociones podemos reprimirlas, pero un espíritu intenta establecerse en nuestras vidas. El temor nos paraliza. Al leer las Escrituras, nos damos cuenta de que es una de las mayores tácticas del enemigo. El Señor reprende el temor del enemigo, y hay 366 versículos en la Biblia que dicen "No temas".
Muchas veces ponemos excusas por el miedo, permitiendo que éste gobierne nuestras vidas. Decimos cosas como tengo temor a volar, temor a los payasos, a los insectos. Como mencioné en otro blog que escribí, algunos de nosotros vivimos en FOMO (temor a perdernos algo), miramos nuestras vidas y comenzamos a temer, pensando para nosotros mismos que esto es todo lo que hay en mi vida. ¿Alguna vez tendré mis deseos o alcanzaré mis metas? Hermanos y hermanas, no importa cuál sea el objeto de vuestro temor, la fuente detrás de él es un espíritu, un espíritu demoníaco, el enemigo. El miedo obstaculiza el progreso, no nos permite ver más allá de lo que tenemos delante. La Biblia dice "el amor perfecto echa fuera todo temor (1 Juan 4:18)", lo echa fuera. Dios, en su perfecta santidad, echó fuera el temor, no nos dijo que lo venciésemos o lo domináramos, sino que lo arrojáramos a la obediencia de Jesucristo. Desde el principio, Dios nos ha mostrado cómo lidiar con Satanás, arrojándolo del cielo, el enemigo está debajo de nuestros pies. Tenemos autoridad y dominio sobre él y sus caminos. Enfrenta el temor con valentía, recuérdale al enemigo con quién autoridad hablas. Dios es más grande que cualquier espíritu de temor que venga hacia nosotros, y Su lucha por nosotros es librarnos de ese espíritu, para que no prevalezca.
Cuando comenzamos a ver frutos como ansiedad, confusión, duda, timidez, desánimo y consternación, procrastinación y pereza, todos provienen del temor y son un temor de distracción. Estos no son del Espíritu Santo, porque el fruto del Espíritu es amor, gozo, paz, paciencia, gentileza, bondad, fidelidad, mansedumbre y dominio propio (Gálatas 5:22-23). Dios quiere que descansemos en Él, que tengamos paz en Él, Él ya venció al enemigo, sigamos así. Entonces, ¿cómo luchamos cuando vemos este espíritu de temor tratando de adherirse a nosotros? Veamos dos versículos clave de las Escrituras.
5 Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas.- Deuteronomio 6:5 (NTV)
8 Estudia constantemente este libro de instrucción. Medita en él de día y de noche para asegurarte de obedecer todo lo que allí está escrito. Solamente entonces prosperarás y te irá bien en todo lo que hagas.- Josué 1:8 (NTV)
¿Cómo amamos a Dios con nuestra mente?, al meditar en Su palabra, para que cuando el enemigo arroje sus flechas de fuego (lo cual hará), podamos reconocerlo porque no se alinea con la palabra de Dios? La Biblia dice en Jeremías 31:33 que Dios ha escrito Su palabra en nuestros corazones, así que cuando leemos la palabra, estamos llenando nuestro corazón con la verdad de Dios y sabemos por la abundancia del corazón que la boca habla (Mateo 12 :34 NTV). La forma en que hablamos a las vidas de los demás y cómo nos hablamos a nosotros mismos mostrará si esas palabras están arraigadas en la fe o el temor. El temor (reverencia) del Señor (Su espíritu) trae Sabiduría y Entendimiento. Nos alinea con Dios y Su palabra. La Biblia dice que el espíritu del Señor nos lleva a toda la verdad. El temor de Dios produce convicción y obediencia. El miedo trae condenación y separación. Cuando vivimos (mental, física y espiritualmente) en la verdad de Dios no hay lugar para el temor. Cuando se elimina el temor, recuperamos nuestro sano juicio y espíritu. Siendo decididos en nuestros caminos y confiados en nuestra esperanza.
Hermanos y hermanas: ¡Mayor es el que está en nosotros que el que está en el mundo (1 Juan 4:4 RV1960)! Miremos el temor por lo que realmente es, el temor es un espíritu del enemigo que intenta adherirse a tu vida. No dejes que el miedo se salga con la suya, arrójalo, con valentía dile que se vaya en el nombre de Jesús. El enemigo aún hoy tiembla ante ese nombre. Ama a Dios con todo ti mismo, deja que Él te ame con todo Él, sumérgete en la Palabra y amplía tu territorio! Eres tan amado.
